Newport Shores

Newport Shores

Newport Shores is located just across Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) from the  Pacific Ocean. It is a small community of just 440 homes, and is surrounded by the  Newport Salt March Wildlife Preserve, which many residents refer to as simply  “the canal”.

Newport Shores homes range from those homes built originally in the 1960′s, to homes which have been highly remodeled and updated to homes that are completely custom and newly built by local experts you can hire at Archute. Some of the homes have ocean views, and a small portion of the residents are  fortunate enough enjoy homes along the canal and the wildlife which  comes to visit.  The homes along the canal come at a premium for obvious reasons.

Despite very low association dues, Newport Shores has many amenities including a recently rebuilt clubhouse (which can be rented for private parties), an olympic size pool,  volleyball court, tennis court and basketball court. The community also enjoys several  holiday parties and planned events throughout the year.

I have been fortunate enough to live in four Newport Shores  Homes, and my favorite annual activity was the Newport Shores Fourth of July celebration, which featured a  bike parade through the community on our decorated bikes, swimming, and  watermelon seed spitting contest.  We spent hours the night before each July 4th decorating our bikes.

There is shopping and several restaurants to choose from right along PCH, including Newport Burgers, which has been part of the neighborhood for years.

Childen who are residents of Newport Shores typically attend Newport Elementary School, Horace Ensign Intermediate School and Newport Harbor High School.
