Kids Raising Money for Kids – Jammin’ for Julian II
Today was Jammin’ for Julian II. In December 2008, Julian Dunn was diagnosed with a brain tumor. As a result of the efforts of many people a concert was put on with over 25 groups of children singing and playing musical instruments, raising nearly $30,000 for the Dunn family medical bills.
Julian has now completed 55 weeks of chemo and radiation and is doing well. He was up and about running with the other kids today and doing so much better than last year.
At that time the Dunn Family determined this should be an annual event to help raise money for Orange County charities that help children. And, in keeping with that, this year, another talented group of children gathered to raise money for charities including Beckstrand, Red Wagon and Miracles for Kids.
These children are amazing. Umi Garrett has been on Ellen Degeneres and returned from an international tour today because it was important to her to be here to support Jammin’ for Julian. Additionally, Samantha Smith was there again. This young lady formed her own non-profit after participating in Jammin’ for Julian last year. As a teenager, Samantha has her own choir which she mentors as well as her own non-profit to help raise money for other children.
This is a phenomenal group of children with amazing talents, along with ticket sales, there was also a bake sale, a lemonade stand and Cookie Lee to help raise money for these charities.
We look forward to many years of helping raise money for children here in Orange County. If you would like to contribute, you may contact Christine Donovan at 714.319.9751 for additional information.
