An Early Thanksgiving for Our Veteran

on His Way Back to Afghanistan

This past week, we have been fortunate to have my brother-in-law back for a brief visit before he returns to Afghanistan.

We decide that since it’s November, we should celebrate Thanksgiving before he left us again.  So, we did the full Thanksgiving dinner with turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy and of course pumpkin pie.

It was great to have so much of the family together. We will do this all again in a few weeks for the “real” Thanksgiving, but this Friday, we had so much for which to be thankful with his safe return and the opportunity for he and my sister to have a brief vacation on Catalina Island.

We all look forward to his safe return again in August of next year when we hope to keep him permanently.
